Second Ever Entry!

As I flick through last night’s pics from the Christies Auction at the Emirates Towers, I recall the excitement, glamour and buzz of the evening.  Then I reach the image I’ve been waiting for. It’s a snapshot of the elegant auctioneer, caught in mid-action as if he’s conducting some magnificent symphony.

I cringe slightly as the memory comes back to me. You see, I’d been sitting dazedly on the second row and, as usual, happily indulging in one of my daydreams.  Without thinking, I began snapping the auctioneer on autopilot, my camera subconsciously clicking away at my latest muse. And as I blasted him with my flash, he called out “Madame!”

And I suddenly realized I had become the proud new owner of a fabulous piece of art… Oh sugarplums!

I blushed crimson and waved in a flustered fashion while saying; “No no!” to a few surrounding giggles…. Oops. Note to self: Try to avoid all attention-grabbing behaviour in the middle of an exclusive art auction…

I carry on sorting through my pictures, and the next person to catch my eye is an American lady with a definite twinkle about her. She is clearly bidding for someone on the phones, because every so often she shouts out in excitement, “Sir bid!”

I admit I’m slightly tickled by the fact that she is also sitting in front of a painting of a lady on the phone… Life is reflecting art, so to speak… How very appropriate…

As I reflect upon the fizz of the evening, I can feel my creative excitement mounting. What fantastic fodder – I can’t wait to start work! This new project is certainly providing inspiration. It’s time to get started…

So, see you next time everyone. And who knows where I’ll be next week? Maybe I will have even inked you!

Now, on with the show with my first ever entry!

Right, I’m flicking through last night’s photos from Bareface’s event – and this is what I’m seeing….

There’s a kaleidoscope of everything trendy. My best friend’s model legs are draped over lip-stick red bean bags, worldly tattoos being barely hidden by tiny vests… Everyone’s chilled – which is unusual for Dubai – as they discuss art and cigarette brands.

As I continue searching, I’m suddenly overwhelmed with delight as I reach several photos of two rather giddy guests in the new ‘Studio’ space. They’d hit a rather unpredictable and extensive dress-up box. One of the two guests was a man, elegant in stance,  yet almost toppling over due to the weight of a bizarre, massive giraffe hat.

Where on Earth do people obtain giraffe hats?

He’s there, cheekily being lent on by a giggly girl with a fan, his moustache quivering with glee. The girl of course, is  arseing around with a fan - trying to tickle the giraffe’s neck… coquettishly.

Perfect.

Absolutely perfect. I’ve found them; my first muses for my first blog drawing.

I remember getting my camera. Click. I would get to them later…

I carry on …… and eventually come across an arty, bald, cool-looking bloke with a tattooed arm.  I try to subtly capture with the moment with my camera, but ending up being rather obvious as I click him indiscreetly at least five times!

He probably thinks I’m some pscho future stalker with a crush on him!  Great. That image will work well with one of  Dan, who’s from Bareface, also flashing his inked arm in a photo, which he told me was created in Sharjah – the tattoo that is…

Anyway, this is kinda fun! As I reflect on this first entry at The Studio’s opening in the Courtyard, I realize I am going to have to get my butt out there. Admittedly, this will be a bit of a shock to my couch potato system, but kinda exciting too!

See you next time guys!
