As I flick through last night’s pics from the Christies Auction at the Emirates Towers, I recall the excitement, glamour and buzz of the evening. Then I reach the image I’ve been waiting for. It’s a snapshot of the elegant auctioneer, caught in mid-action as if he’s conducting some magnificent symphony.
I cringe slightly as the memory comes back to me. You see, I’d been sitting dazedly on the second row and, as usual, happily indulging in one of my daydreams. Without thinking, I began snapping the auctioneer on autopilot, my camera subconsciously clicking away at my latest muse. And as I blasted him with my flash, he called out “Madame!”
And I suddenly realized I had become the proud new owner of a fabulous piece of art… Oh sugarplums!
I blushed crimson and waved in a flustered fashion while saying; “No no!” to a few surrounding giggles…. Oops. Note to self: Try to avoid all attention-grabbing behaviour in the middle of an exclusive art auction…
I carry on sorting through my pictures, and the next person to catch my eye is an American lady with a definite twinkle about her. She is clearly bidding for someone on the phones, because every so often she shouts out in excitement, “Sir bid!”
I admit I’m slightly tickled by the fact that she is also sitting in front of a painting of a lady on the phone… Life is reflecting art, so to speak… How very appropriate…
As I reflect upon the fizz of the evening, I can feel my creative excitement mounting. What fantastic fodder – I can’t wait to start work! This new project is certainly providing inspiration. It’s time to get started…
So, see you next time everyone. And who knows where I’ll be next week? Maybe I will have even inked you!
