The Paris Collection

Art De Temple, Germany 2019

“I have long been overwhelmed by the history and beauty of Parisian culture,” Hatty says. “Everything from its fashion, fashion photography, film, history to its architecture to its art is the source of inspiration behind this collection.”  The mixed media series includes photo-montage, jewel and crystal embellishes blended with Hatty’s distinctive surrealist style, finished with ornate, flamboyant baroque frames.

Khosh Bosh
Beirut an Identity Adrift

The Mojo Gallery, Dubai 2013

She is full of contradictions. At once sophisticated and charming, violent, complex and confusing. She is expressive and self absorbed. Consistently unpredictable she lures and repels in equal measure; with a capacity to disillusion and exhilarate she fills you with all manner of frustrations but never fails to envelop you in her unique embrace.

She is Beirut.

JHAKAAS! Mumbai
A Study of beautiful chaos

The Mojo Gallery, Dubai 2012

The show’s title ‘Jhakaas!’ capture’s both the subject’s spirit and the artist’s interpretations. As a word ‘jhakaas’ originates from the colourful ‘desi’ street dialect used by Mumbaikars - and simply translates as ‘amazing!’ Not only does it perfectly express that burst of Mumbai life Hatty encapsulates within her work but it also gestures towards that strong sense of identity the people of Mumbai hold close.

Social Seen
A study of Dubai’s events

The Mojo Gallery, Dubai 2012

Her human subjects are bird-like, out of shape, vain, camp, hairy, pretentious, over-confident, over-dressed, oblivious, bewildered and absurd.

Yet we feel a strange kinship with the creatures in Hatty Pedder’s paintings. They might be weird or even grotesque, but there is an underlying vulnerability and emptiness that we can relate to.

Every character in Hatty’s work is infused with exaggerated life. Hatty’s pen is always searching, exploring every nook and cranny of her subject – inventing slow-burning subplots that make her paintings a never ending discovery.

Although finished with daring flourishes of mixed-medium techniques Hatty’s work is essentially born from the drawn line – infinitely varied, with thicks and thins, delicate and abrasive, smooth lines and jagged – and it is this that gives each subject it’s satirical bite.
